George Steel Fabricating, Inc. traces its beginnings to two brothers operating a Marathon gas station and a farm implement sales and repair company, out of a small building in Lebanon, Ohio in 1954. Robert and Harold George specialized in selling and repairing farm implements in, what was then, a very rural farming community.

In 1960, the brothers split their company into two parts - a welding shop and a machine shop. By 1964, their focus was solely on operating a repair and light fabrication metal shop.

The company continued to serve the area until 1977 when John George graduated from The Ohio State University and joined full-time as the company's Vice President. With the addition of John, the company looked to diversify into more production opportunities using their steel and metal experience and background. In 1979, George Steel Fabricating entered into a major contract to build light poles for Lighting Systems, Incorporated (LSI). At this time, John George was named President of the company.

In 1985, John's older brother, Dan, joined the company. He brought with him a Welding Engineering Degree from The Ohio State University, which complemented and improved the company's current line of business.

George's business continued to grow with the production of light poles being a major source of work. At this time, they began to broaden their efforts with a goal of entering the structural steel business. It was thought that this would be an excellent opportunity to complement their repair and light fabrication. This calculated move would soon become a major part of their success in the future.

The 1990s brought a number of changes to George Steel. LSI took their light pole business back in-house. If George Steel had not begun to fabricate structural steel five years earlier, the loss of a major customer would have been devastating. Instead, today George Steel Fabricating is now known as one of the leading suppliers of structural steel and steel erection services throughout the Midwest.

In the late 1990s, Dan George began another concern, George Manufacturing, in Lebanon, Ohio. This company focuses on providing powder-coat services as an OEM manufacturer of basketball goals. Both George companies continue to work closely on a number of projects.
